FUMC Youth Keep Irving Beautiful

Our Youth Landscape and Replant the Barren Land Plot Near The Entrance to REFUGE

As we celebrated our Centennial, one of the feature events was the United Methodist Youth Fellowship REUNION comin up on September 6.  As a welcome home gesture, the youth of the First United Methodist Church took up the project of  beautifying the front entrance of REFUGE by landscaping and planting new greenery. REFUGE is where the Youth of FUMC meet in the Family Life Center. Inside the Youth Area it has been painted to look like a mountain top and a REFUGE where they or anyone that comes can renew their spirit - hence the name (as well as key scripture verses). The land in the area was fairly barren and not exactly pleasing to the eye.

At Refuge Worship, we strive to build an environment where man and God can connect. In Psalm 46:1, the psalmist writes, "God is our refuge...".  We too seek him in our time together. Our focus is praise and prayer. We want to love God with all our hearts! We want to seek him and praise him and glorify him. We want to pray and communicate with the Father's heart. We are learning how to pray more effectively. Are you looking for a safe place, a place where you can be yourself and learn about Jesus Christ, God’s only Son? Do you long for a time when you can stop and listen to that still small voice of God? Give Refuge Worship a try. We can't wait to meet you! Youth Refuge Worship is on Wednesdays @ 7:07 PM every week.

The Youth of First United Methodist Church put in money along with their parents and anyone else that wanted to help with the cause to get the materials. They spent Labor Day Weekend on Saturday morning, Sunday evening and Monday morning to make this REFUGE spot a place that ill carry a message for generations to come.
