“Doing what people say cannot be
done”. The Mission Society missionaries understand
the meaning of that statement. They are often told
that they cannot make a difference in another
country, another language, another culture; yet, in
every country where there are missionaries from the
Mission Society, they are in fact making a
difference. They are reflecting Christ’s life and
presence by caring, teaching, evangelizing,
providing food or binding wounds to all they meet.
The Beise's and the Jackson's are a part of the
Mission Society team.

Arab World

Commitment ending Dec. 31, 2005 |
Skip and Amy Bayles |
|
| The Arab world lies in the heart of
the 10/40 window. The 10/40 window describes the
area of the world between latitudes 10 and 40
degrees north of the equator covering North Africa,
the Middle East, and Asia. The window looks toward
most of the areas of the world with the greatest
physical and spiritual needs. The window also
includes most of the world’s least-reached peoples
and most of the governments that oppose
Christianity. Evangelism in the Arab world is seldom
easy.
Muslims are forbidden by law to convert from
Islam and those who do may suffer persecution or
imprisonment for their belief in Christ. Most Arab
World countries are closed to traditional mission
work, and with few exceptions, it is not possible
for a person to gain residence as a missionary. In
Europe and North America, there is greater freedom
to share Christ openly with more opportunities for
direct outreach. The Bayles are currently living in
Barcelona, Spain and working with the Muslim
immigrant community there.

Advance Special Program |
Aids Orphans, Palliative Care and
Service Fund Donation Information
Jesus has called us to help those who are less
fortunate and to share in His love as our call to
mission. To support the ministries of Jesus Christ,
the United Methodist Church has the
Advance Special Program.
Any gift to support the
Maua Methodist Hospital Palliative care, Service
Fund, or AIDS Orphan Programs should be given
through your church by using their Advance Special
number. It is then sent to the General Board of
Global Ministries (GBGM), the UMC Mission Board, and
then on to Kenya.
Every dollar you send goes to the hospital to
support these ministries. There is no administrative
costs!
The Palliative Care Program provides
antiretroviral drugs to mothers with AIDS to keep
them alive for many years so they can raise their
children in good health. Twenty six dollars per
month will provide these antiretroviral drugs for a
mother with AIDS. Your support check can be written
to your local UMC church with a note that reads:
"For Advance Special #09613A - Maua Hospital Service
Fund, Kenya - NOTE: For Palliative Care".
The Service Fund pays for the medical
bills for our poorest patients and orphans in our
service to the Lord. We serve a very poor area and
we are the only hospital available to care for them.
Your support check can be written to your local UMC
church with a not that reads: "For Advance Special
#09613A - Maua Hospital Service Fund, Kenya"
The AIDS Orphan Program provides three nutritious
meals pre day to the orphans by giving food to their
caretakers, usually their grandmothers, who prepare
the meals at home. The ministry also provides
uniforms, shoes, and fees to send the AIDS Orphans
to primary school and provide for their medical
care. Fifteen dollars per month feeds and educates a
young AIDS Orphan. Your support check can be written
to your local UMC church with a note that reads:
"For Advance Special #140161 - AIDS Orphans'
Project, Maua Hospital, Kenya".
Please pray to the Lord for these ministries and
let the Holy Spirit guide you in your generous
giving.
"When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or
see you sick and care for you ...", and God will
reply; "When you have done this for the least of my
children, you did it for me." MATT 25:31-40
May God bless you as you share to bring God's
Kingdom of Love to the world.

Golden Cross is to the
United Methodist Church in North Texas what the Red
Cross is to the nation. It is a ministry of the
North Texas Conference with an annual contribution
goal of $1 per church member. Its purpose is to
provide healthcare to those in need on behalf of the
church. The person must be in need of medical
assistance, without funds to pay for medical care,
and have a condition that can be treated through a
Methodist Hospitals of Dallas facility. It offers a
range of services from childbirth, to cardiac
surgery, to physical rehabilitation. Local Methodist
clergy refer persons in need to the pastoral care
office at Methodist Hospital.

The Bachman Foundry is a tiny Methodist Church-group
(no permanent building yet) located in the Bachman
Lake Hispanic section. Led by young Pastor Owen
Ross, the Foundry seeks to provide holistic ministry
to the Bachman community and to the North Texas
Conference. As part of the North Texas Conference
's Vision 20/20 campaign, the initiative was taken
to plant a Spanish-speaking church in the
Burnet/North Bachman neighborhood. The name
"Foundry" was chosen in the tradition of John
Wesley's old canon foundry that he converted into a
church/social center for the urban London poor. In
that tradition, the Bachman Foundry has sought to
minister to the spiritual and temporal needs of the
residents of this neighborhood. On February 22nd of
this year, the Foundry celebrated its one-year
anniversary. The Church has embarked on an ambitious
agenda of after-school programs, ESL classes,
community organizing and much more.
Northaven UMC is a Covenant (supporting) Church
for the Bachman Foundry. Several members volunteer
in their after-school tutoring program.

CW and Emily Change Ministries
C.W. and Emily Faulkner have faithfully ministered to
cadets and midshipmen at the Citadel for six years. Their goal
was to reach
young military students before they become leaders
in the military. They would like to see these
leaders spread their faith around the world as they
tour the world. The Lord has led them to a new ministry
which they believe supports the type of church the young
cadets officers would eventually join. They will be
leaving the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ this
summer and moving to Louisville, Kentucky to begin a
3-year seminary education.
They are no longer a part of Campus Crusade for
Christ but a belong to a new missions group named Global
Service network (GSN). GSN is a network of missionaries,
ministers and like-minded laypeople who work to spread
the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially in cross-culture
contexts. Very much like Campus Crusade, GSN funds its
ministries through the giving of individuals and
organizations. So as we make this transition, we pray
that you all will make it with us. We are grateful for
your faithful partnership with us as we have served with
Campus Crusade's Military Ministry. Will you ask the
Lord if would He have you continue to partner with us as
we seek to reach international students at the
University of Louisville with the Gospel?
We are so grateful for the six years we have served
on staff with Campus Crusade; grateful for how the Lord
has grown us and used us, and for your partnership with
us. We are also excited about how He will continue our
growth as he uses us in ministry at the University of
Louisville.

| The first Methodist Churches in what

missionaries from Texas in the 1920's. Methodism
flourished until 1938, when the Germans occupied the
country. Following the war, all the Christian
churches endured forty years of Soviet domination.
For the last fifteen years, the United Methodist
Church in the Czech Republic has struggled to
rebuild its facilities and ministry. First United
Methodist Church in Irving is in partnership with a
small United Methodist congregation in Tachov, a
small town in the western part of the Czech
Republic. Zdenek Eberle is the pastor. Our financial
support and prayers help underwrite Zdenek's salary

provide support for Judy and Danny Elms who are
planning to go to the Czech Republic as part of a
