Blessings of Music

One of God’s greatest gifts to us is one that we can’t touch or see, but one that we can definitely feel. It’s the gift of music.

Scientists can explain how music is produced, how sound waves vibrate and travel through the air, allowing the small bones in our ears to pick up the sound.

But only God can explain how music somehow goes straight to our hearts, touching our emotions, causing us to want to dance, or shout, or cry. That’s why I think it’s such a gift from God. And one we often take for granted.

We bless others with the gift of music. It takes a special talent; a special person to give of themselves to share a blessing with another in the offering of a musical piece. In the offering of this blessing, sharing of our talents and time in the choir and handbells, we in turn are blessed many, many times over. The magic of music.

As we work to bring you music from our hearts we also have a lot of fun, make new friendships and strengthen old bonds. We want to show you a little of the fun side as well as the serious side of our music program at FUMC, Irving.
