FUMC Secure Campus Policy

At the Feb 2008 Trustees Meeting, it was
determined that the time had come to implement new
policies regarding building access. Beginning Monday,
April 20, 2008, our main access door by the office along with
all the other exterior doors will remain locked. There
is a button that buzzes into the office and a speaker
which offers a means of communication.
Here are a couple of examples.
 |
When we recognize the
individual wanting access to the building, of
course, we will remotely unlock the door
immediately. |
 |
However, there will be
times that our business will be conducted through
the speaker system in the case of the homeless who
might be needing a sack lunch, which we will
continue to provide, or others needing rent or
utility assistance, etc. Situations will be handled
on a case-by-case basis always keeping the safety of
staff and others in the building a priority. |
Making a decision to implement this
policy is not something that was entered into without
great thought and consideration. The Trustees and office
staff ask for your patience as we transition into this
new system and attempt to make the building a more
secure environment for all. |
