Bible Challenge for 2021
Dear church family and friends,
Last year we conducted the “Jeff Baker Memorial Bible Challenge” where we read through the entire New Testament. So many of you have commented about how meaningful the challenge was, especially in light of the unforeseen pandemic. We are blessed in the reading of Scripture! Congratulations as well to those who completed the entire New Testament!
This year we will take on another Scriptural Challenge where we will read through the major themes of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation. Although we will not be reading every chapter of the Bible, the chapters (around six to seven a week) this year will give us the overall arch of God’s written word. Following the direction of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, spend time every day reading Scripture, pray before and after reading for guidance, look for the whole will of God in Scripture, remember the main themes of the Bible (effects of sin, salvation by faith, being new in Christ, inward holiness, and outward holiness), and put what God places on your heart through Scripture into action.
Here are the readings for Sunday, January 10, (if you want to catch up on those) and the readings for the following three weeks. The major theme is also mentioned. We’ll send out an email usually every Monday with updated readings. For the most part through 2021, the theme for the Sunday service will follow the readings of the week.
